About the club
A St. Paul club built by local handlers
SPDTC began as a non-profit community club started by dog handlers who wanted a practical place to train in St. Paul. We still work that way today: a steady, friendly space for Obedience, Dog Agility, and Nose Work.
Our story
Built by people who train their own dogs
The club grew from a handful of local handlers sharing a training field and a common goal: useful skills for their dogs and a supportive group to practice with. Over time that group widened to include Obedience, Dog Agility, and Nose Work, each taught by instructors with hands-on experience in their discipline.
Today our instructors bring competition-ring experience, agility course knowledge, and scent-work practice into every class. We keep the atmosphere collaborative, so newer handlers and experienced teams train side by side.

What we believe
Thoughtful practice builds lasting bonds between dogs and their handlers.
Patience, steady consistency, and teamwork matter more than shortcuts. We focus on the everyday work between sessions, because that is where a dog and handler learn to understand each other.
